On her way to work one morning

Down the path along side the lake

A tender hearted woman saw a poor half frozen snake

His pretty colored skin had been all frosted with the dew"Oh well," she cried,

"I'll take you in and I'll take care of you""Take me in oh tender woman

Take me in, for heaven's sake

Take me in oh tender woman," sighed the snake

 

어느 날 아침 그녀는 출근하려고호수가 길을 따라 걷고 있었지

마음 여린 아줌마는 추위에 얼어버린 가엾은 뱀을 한 마리 보았지

예쁜 피부색을 가진 뱀은 찬 이슬에 얼어 거의 죽게 되었었지

"아, 이런, 널 데려다 내가 보호해 줄게" 하고 말했지"

착한 아줌마, 저를 데려가 주세요

제발 꼭 절 데려가 주세요

아줌마, 절 좀 살려 주세요" 하고 뱀은 애원했답니다

 

She wrapped him up all cozy in a curvature of silk

And then laid him by the fireside with some honey and some milk

Now she hurried home from work that night as soon as she arrived

She found that pretty snake she'd taking in had been revived"

Take me in, oh tender woman

Take me in, for heaven's sake

Take me in oh tender woman," sighed the snake

 

그녀는 포근한 비단에 뱀을 감싸 따뜻한 난로가에 내려놓고 꿀과 우유를 먹였습니다

그녀는 일이 끝나자마자 서둘러 집으로 돌아왔지요

데려온 뱀이 다시 살아났습니다

"아줌마, 제가 여기 있게 해주세요

꼭 그렇게 해주세요

아줌마 절 받아 주세요" 하고 뱀은 애원했답니다.

 

Now she clutched him to her bosom,

"You're so beautiful," she cried"

But if I hadn't brought you in by now you might have died"

Now she stroked his pretty skin and then she kissed and held him tight

But instead of saying thanks, that snake gave her a vicious bite"

Take me in, oh tender woman

Take me in, for heaven's sake

Take me in oh tender woman," sighed the snake

 

그녀는 뱀을 가슴에 꼭 안아 주며,

"얘, 넌 참 예쁘게 생겼구나" 하고 감탄했습니다

"내가 널 데려오지 않았다면 지금쯤 아마 넌 죽었겠지"

그녀는 뱀의 피부를 쓰다듬어 주며, 키스해 주며 꼭 안았습니다.

하지만 고맙다는 말은 커녕, 그녀를 물어버렸습니다

"아줌마, 제가 여기 있게 해주세요

꼭 그렇게 해주세요

아줌마 절 받아 주세요" 하고 뱀은 애원했답니다.

 

"I saved you," cried that woman"

And you've bit me even, why?

You know your bite is poisonous and now I'm going to die""

Oh shut up, silly woman," said the reptile with a grin

"You knew damn well I was a snake before you took me in

"Take me in, oh tender woman

Take me in, for heaven's sake

Take me in oh tender woman," sighed the snake

 

"난 널 구해 주었잖아" "그런데 물기까지 해?

못됐어" 하고 그녀는 소릴 질렀습니다

"네가 물면 독이 있잖아, 난 이제 죽는 거잖아"

"입 다물어요, 이 바보같은 아줌마야

"앙큼한 녀석이 대꾸했습니다

"아줌마도 잘 아실텐데, 날 데려오기 전에는 난 뱀이었어"

아줌마, 제가 여기 있게 해주세요

꼭 그렇게 해주세요

아줌마 절 받아 주세요" 하고 뱀은 애원했답니다
