It was many and many a year ago

아주 아주 먼 옜날

In a kingdom by the sea

바닷가 어느 왕국에

That a maiden there lived

whom you may know

By the name of Annabel Lee

에너벨 리라는 이름의 소녀가 살고 있었죠.

여러분도 혹시 알지도 모르는

And this maiden she lived

그 소녀는

with no other thought

다른 생각은 전혀 안하고,

That to love and be loved by me

저와 사랑에 빠졌었지요.

I was a child and she was a child

저와 그녀는 어린아이였답니다.

In this kingdom by the sea

바닷가 이 왕국에서는

But we loved with a love

that was more than love

하지만, 우린 서로를 너무 사랑했지요.

I and my Annabel Lee

With a love

that the winged seraphs of Heaven

하늘에 있는 천사도

Coveted her and me

그녀와 저의 사랑을 탐내왔습니다.

And this was the reason

that long ago

그것이 오래 전부터 예견된 이유였나봅니다.

In this kingdom by the sea

바닷가 이 왕국에서는

A wind blew out of a cloud

어떤 바람이 구름에서 불어와

Chilling my beautiful Annabel Lee

아름다운 에나벨 리를 차갑게 얼리게 하고는

So that her highborn kinsmen came

상류층의 그녀의 친척이 오더니,

And bore her away from me

그녀를 내 곁에서 빼앗아 갔죠.

To shut her up in a sepulchre

그리고는 지하 매장소에 가두어 버렸답니다.

In this kingdom by the sea

바닷가 이 왕국에서,

The angels, not half so happy

in Heaven

항상 불만인

하늘에 있는 천사는

Went enving her and me

그녀와 저를 항상 시기하였답니다.

Yes ! That was the reason

바로 그게 이유였답니다.

as all men know,

In this kingdom by the sea

바닷가 이왕국의 모든 사람들은 알고 있죠.

That the wind came out

of the cloud by night, chilling

한밤중 바람이 구름으로 부터 몰려오더니,

And killing my beautiful Annabel Lee

내 아름다운 에나벨 리를 차갑게 죽였습니다.

But our love it was stronger

by far than the love

하지만, 우리의 사랑은 더욱더 깊어지었죠.

Of those who were older than we

우리보다 더 많이 산사람들보다

Of many who were wiser than we

우리보다 더 잘난 사람보다도

And neither the angels

in Heaven above

하늘에 천사들도,

Nor the demons

down under the sea

바다 속 악마들도,

Can ever dissever my soul

from the soul

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee

에나벨 리의 영혼으로부터,

제 영혼을 갈라놓지는 못했지요.

For the moon never beams,

Without bringing me dreams

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee

달빛이 비치는 날이면 언제나,

전, 아름다운 에나벨 리를 꿈꾸지요.

And the stars never rise

but I feel the bright eyes

Of the beautiful Annabel Lee

또 별들이 떠오르는 날이면, 언제나

아름다운 에나벨 리의 빛나는

눈동자를 느낀답니다.

And so, all the nighttide,

그래서, 이 한밤중에

I lie down by the side

Of my darling, my darling,

my life and my bride

나의 사랑, 내 인생의 전부인, 나의 신부

옆에 누워, 그녀를 지키죠.

In the sepulchure there by the sea
