1957년 미국에서 조직된 포크 3중창단 입니다.
오리지널 멤버는 데이브 가아드(밴조), 밥 쇄인(기타) 그리고 닉 레이놀스)로 구성.1961년에 잔 스튜어트(John Stewart)가 가담 킹스턴 트리오 최대의 히트 싱글인 ‘Tom Dooley’(1958 # 1)은 데이브가아드의 리드 보컬이였지만, ‘Where Have All The Flowers Gone’, ‘Greenback Dollar’등은 잔 스튜어트가 가담한 리코딩이였습니다. 킹스턴 트리오의 싱글은 1962년 1월 20일에 싱글 차트에 데뷔하여 4월 7일에 21위로 마크했지요.
이 노래는 인류의 숙명적 대량 살육의 전쟁에서 희생된 젊은이를 진혼하는 의미를 담고있는 반전가요입니다. 한국의 6,25, 동란과 베트남 전쟁을 배경으로 쓰여진 곡이며,1955년에 Pete Seeger 자신이 작사 작곡 하였답니다
"Where Have All the Flowers Gone"은 'International' Folk 풍으로 불렀던 Pete Seeger의대표곡 중의 하나입니다.하지만 일반적으로는 Brothers Four나 Joan Baez의 목소리로 이 노래를 아는 분들이 많지요. Savage Rose, The Kingston Trio도 이 노래를 불렀습니다. Pete Seeger가 부른 노래로는 'We Shall Overcome', 'Solidarity Forever' 등이 있는데,
이 곡들은 7-80년대에 번안되어 한국 운동권 사이에서 많이 불리워졌습니다
