남편과 아이 둘은 박람회에 가고,

나흘간 혼자 남게 된 '프란체스카'에게 메디슨 카운티의 다리를 찍으러 온 사진작가 '로버트'가 길을 묻는다.

프란체스카는 친절히 길을 안내해주고,

이상한 감정에 이끌려 둘은 나흘간의 뜨거운 사랑을 나눈다.
