그녀가 말하길, 나를 믿어, 그리곤 내 가슴을 생명감으로 채워줬지

숫자는 중요하지 않아. 오해는 없어

비록 몇몇 평론가들에게 혹평을 받기도 했지만 영국의 프로그레시브 록 밴드

인 Uriah Heep은 상업적으로 성공하였으며 상당한 컬트적인 인기를 모았다.

테크니컬한 헤비 록 사운드를 들려주었던 유라이어 힙은 지금까지 거의 30명

에 이르는 멤버 교체와 두 명의 사망이 있었다는 점에서도 화제거리가 되곤

했던 그룹이다.

이들의 이름은 Charles Dickens의 소설 David Copperfield에 등장하는 인물

에서 따왔다고 한다. 유라이어 힙의 뿌리는 1960년대까지 거슬러 올라가며

그룹의 초기 멤버였던 David Byron(보컬)과 Mick Box(기타)는 The Stalkers

라는 Cover Band에서 같이 연주를 시작했는데 그룹은 곧 해산되었다. 이들

은 다시 Spice라는 그룹을 결성하였는데 이 그룹이 바로 유라이어 힙의 모체

가 된다.
