1963년 6월 1일과 7일 2주간 빌보드 핫100 차트 1위곡으로 리듬 N 블루스 차트에서도 1위를 기록했다. 내 생일 파티날 내 남자로 알고 있던 쟈니는 파티장에서 쥬디의 손을 잡고 사라졌다가 마치 왕과 왕비처럼 다시 나타났는데 쥬디의 손가락에는 쟈니가 준 웨딩 링이 빛나고 있더라는 배신과 절망으로 울고 싶은 마음을 노래하고 있다.

 

니들도 내꼴 당해봐라 안 울고 베길 수 있나. (You would cry too if it happend to you.) 이 부분은 이후 망신당하고 창피와 분노로 울고 싶은 상황을 대변하는 미국의 하나의 문화적인 유행어로 자리 잡았다 한다.
