1961년 12월 11일 빌보드 핫100차트의 1위곡이다. 마블렛츠(Marvelletts)는 다이아나 로스의 슈프림즈(The Supremes)로 유명한 모타운(Motown) 레코드사의 첫 여성보컬 그룹으로 Please Mr. Postman이 차트 1위에 오르는 성공을 거둬 이를 발판으로 모타운은 강한 비트의 흑인 리듬 앤드 블루스로 대변되는 모타운 사운드를  발전시켜 나가게 된다.

 

비틀즈가 1963년, 카펜터즈(The Carpenters)가 1974년 리메이크했는데 카펜터즈의 곡은 1975년 1월 25일 다시 차트 1위를 기록하게 된다.
