Patti Page는 (본명 Clara Ann Fowler)
1927년 오클라호마 주털사에서 출생하였다.
그녀가 라디오에 출연중 라디오 방송국의
악단장인 Jack Real이 그녀의 목소리를 듣고 악단에 가입시켰고
그들은 1945년 시카고에 진출, 점차 주목을 받게된다.
'20세기 팝의 여왕' 패티 페이지(1927~ Oklahoma)가
1950년에 부른 '테네시 월츠'는
빌보드차트의 팝-컨츄리-R&B 3개부문 동시 1위라는
진기록에다가 1천만장 이상의 앨범이 팔리는 빅히트를 이뤄냈다.
'I Went To Your Wedding'(52), 'Mockingbird Hill'(52)',
'Changing Partners'(53) 등 주옥같은 히트넘버와 함께
50여년을 꾸준히 사랑받고 있는 '테네시 월츠'는
1956년 팝 뮤직으로는 최초로 미 테네시주의
주가(州歌)로 채택되었다.
