Dark End of The Street 는  Dan Penn and Chips Moman의 1967년 쏘울 작품
James Carr의해 불려져 빌보드 메거진 Black Singles Chart 에 10번이나 실렸고,
Pop chart에 77번이나 올려졌었던 '제임스 카'의 most popular song.
억눌린 듯한 목소리, 마치 눈물을 삼켜가며 부르는 듯 애끓는 심정을 숨김 없이 드러내며
노래하는 James Carr(1942 - 2001)는 침례교의 목사 가정에 가스펠 음악 분위기에서 자랐다.
훗날 American Rhythm & Blues and soul musical artist 로  미국인들에게 인정을 받는다.
