winging swiftly through the sky

Stop complaing said the farmer
Who told you a calf to be
Why don't you have wings to fly with
like the swallow so proud and free

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered
Never knowing the reason why
But whoever treasures freedom
like the swallow has learned to fly

 

장터로 가는 마차위에
슬픈 눈망울의 송아지
머리위로는 제비 한마리
날쎄게 하늘을 날으네

바람들 웃는 것좀 봐
허리잡고 웃어대네
종일토록 웃고 또 웃네
여름밤이 다가도록

불평일랑 그만해
농부가 말했네
누가 너보고 송아지가 되랬니?
왜 당당하고 자유로운 제비처럼
날 수 있는 날개를 갖지 못했니?

바람들 웃는 것좀 봐
허리잡고 웃어대네
종일토록 웃고 또 웃네
여름밤이 다가도록

송아지들은 묶이어
죽임을 당하게 되면서도
그 이유를 까맣게 모른다네
하지만 자유를 귀하게 여기는 자는
제비처럼 나는 법을 배우지
