로하이드는 사전적 의미로는 생가죽, 생가죽 채찍이고, 미국에서 속어로 고참자, 부하에게 엄격한 교관을 뜻합니다.

이 드라마는 1959년~1966년 까지 8시즌 217 에피소드로 방영되었다고 합니다. 이 작품으로 클린트 이스트우드는 유명해지기 시작하였고, 무법자 시리즈의 주인공으로 발탁되었습니다.

주제가를 부른 '프랭키 레인(Frankie Laine, 1913년 3월 30일 ~ 2007년 2월 6일)은 시카고에서 태어난 이탈리아 계 미국인 가수입니다.
