Dinah Shore
(born Frances Rose Shore: 1916 – February 24, 1994) 
singer, actress, and television personality. 
1940년 ~1950년 the Big Band era에서 대단한 활약을 보여 주었다.

 
 

Solomon and Anna Stein Shore에서 태어난 그녀는 러시아에서 온 유태인 이민자의 딸로,
어릴적 Winchester,Tennessee 자란 그녀는 Beverly Hills, California에서 자궁암으로 78세를
5일 앞두고 눈을 감았다.




두살때 polio(infantile paralysis: 소아성마비)에 걸렸으나 부모의 극진한 노력으로 극복했다.
Benny Goodman과 Jimmy와Tommy 두 Dorsy형제에게 오디션을 거친후.
그곳에 소속되어 활약하다, 인기를 얻자 솔로로 데뷰했다.

텔레비젼 전반에 걸쳐 재능을 보여준 그녀는 variety shows의 사회는 물론
two talk shows의  hosting으로도 대단한 활약을 보여주었다.
40년대 중반 그리고 50년대의 Doris Day and Patti Page와 함께
가히 여성재능인으로 불리울만한 엔터테이너였다.



골프를 좋아했던 그녀가 1972년부터  여성프로 골퍼들의 후원자로 나섰다.
the Kraft Nabisco Championship라고 알려진 the Colgate Dinah Shore golf tournament를
발족 시켰으며 the LPGA Tour의 the four major golf tournaments의 하나로 성장시켰다.
골프에 헌신적이었던 그녀를 Los Angeles 에 Hillcrest Country Club이 첫번째 여성맴버로
헌정했다.
 



an honorary member of the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1994.
and received the 1993 Old Tom Morris Award from the Golf Course Superintendents
Association of America, GCSAA's highest honor.
