Monday Monday는 1966년 5월 7일자부터 5월 21일자까지 연속 3주간 빌보드 핫100 차트 1위에 올랐다. The Mamas & the Papas는 1965년부터 1968년(1971년 잠시 재결합) 사이에 활동하면서 5개의 앨범과 11개의 Top 40 싱글 레코드를 내 놓았다. 전세계적으로 4,000만장 이상 레코드를 판매한 것으로 기록되고 있다.

 

많은 히트곡 중에서 Monday Monday는 이들의 유일한 1위곡으로 1967년에는 이 곡으로 그래미상을 수상했다( Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal).

 

Monday Monday와 California Dreaming이 함께 수록된 그들의 최초 앨범 "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears"는 미국과 영국에서 동시에 앨범차트 1위에 올랐다.
