버즈(The Byrds)는 1964년 LA에서 결성된 5인조 락밴드이다. 미스터 탬버린맨은 밥 딜런(Bob Dylan)의 곡으로 버즈가 락 스타일로 발매하여 1965년 6월 26일자 빌보드 핫100 차트 1위를 차지했다. 영국 싱글 차트에는 7월 22일부터 2주간 1위. 

 

이 곡은 포크송을 락 스타일로 부른 이른 바 포크 락(folk rock)의 시초로 인정받고 있다. 버즈는 새로운 음악 장르 포크 락을 탄생시킨 그룹으로 당시 영국 뮤지션에게 침공 당하던 미국 음악의 대응 이란 찬사를 받으며 폭발적인 인기를 얻었다.

 

이후 애니멀스(The Animals)가 포크송인 The House Of The Rising Sun을 락스타일로 부르고, 포크 송의 시적인 가사와 12줄 기타 사운드는 비틀즈(The Beatles), 서쳐스(The Searchers)등 많은 뮤지션에게 영향을 주었다.
